No better app

This is the best Latin app ever. I use the parser so much, and it truly makes translating easier. I am in IB Latin IV and SPQR has helped me so much

Optimē!!

This is, hands down, the best and most useful app I have purchased in four years of owning an iDevice. I use it almost daily whether for teaching, lesson prep, or my own research. I recommend it to everyone I know who is learning or working with Latin.

Indispensable

I use this app multiple times a day, every day. It is truly awesome. My only complaint is that it doesnt show macrons. Being new to Latin, having the macrons shown in definitions would be very nice. Other than that, I find this app perfect.

Great app!

I use it a lot for quick look ups when I want to get nuance. The references are very helpful. It is easy to use, and it is quite useful for Latin learners at any stage of learning.

Excellent

Excellent app with so many tools and options for learning the language. Great buy.

Great app

Great stuff, wish it had more quizzes other than verb conjugations.

Good app

It allows me to fulfill my dream of studying Latin grammar before bed!

Simply the best.

This app brings a wealth of tools to any level of Latin aficionado. For any individual looking to keep their skills sharp, or feels the need to settle the sure meaning of a dead language in their day to day grind, this is phenomenal.

Well designed app. Very useful for Beginners in Latin

I am a novice in the study of Latin language, and one of my major concern is how to distinguish the case/tense of the words that I encounter. The Parser under the dictionary prove to be really helpful, although it doesnt always give you a definitive answer, which means that sometimes you have to refer to the text to know the properties of the words. Regardless, this is a well designed app with friendly interface and easy-to-navigate features. Strongly Recommended.

Very Good

A very fine app, which does four things very well. 1. It provides many major texts. 2. For any given word in a text, it allows you to click to find the definition and to parse. 3. It provides full access to Lewis and Short, the best Latin-English lexicon available, with the exception of the Oxford Latin Dictionary. 4. It allows you to construct flash cards, even directly from any word whose definition youve looked up. The only major drawback is the paucity of texts. It would be very nice to have Ciceros more philosophical texts, such as de Natura Deorum.

No professional academician should be without it, IMO.

I have been teaching Latin 1 for seven years. This app has transformed my class. It has made this woolen-jowled barbarian into a nearly adequate teacher! Learning progress is more rapid with it, and (more importantly) students gain the ability to distinguish good resources from bad "resources" (Google translate, AKA Da Da Poetry generator). Especially good for fostering STUDENT DRIVEN learning.

Convenient

I am a first year Latin student and this app has been great for looking up all the new words. Quizzes are fun and helpful as well.

Helpful

Nice layout, could be better in presenting conjugations quickly and clearly.

Very useful

Excellent, easy to use flash cards. Only wish there would be a way to move from field to field while entering my words. The grammar challenges for verbs has made my mastery of verb forms soooo much improved. Now provide us with similar work matching adjectives to nouns and nouns to prepositions, please. This is not my first time studying Latin, but I might even advise a novice to use it. The odd old grammar books, especially the curious joking book nearly two centuries old are a burden on my iPads memory. Better to make them optional.

Good but...

Would love it if the app came with a way to read the text. It’s not enough to READ the Latin - but to HEAR it spoken properly. Would be a great help. Also the info regarding pronunciation is incorrect. The letter C when preceding e, i and æ is soft (this goes for G as well.) Hard C is made when preceding a, o and u (G as well.) Ch and Gh are hard sounds always.

I love it!!

This is the best Latin app I have! I love it so much! I highly recommend it to everyone in Latin or are trying to learn it!

An Invaluable Tool for Latin Learners

Excellent app for Latin learners. Im an adult learner of Latin and this app has become an absolute essential tool to help me with my Latin studies. I use the tool so often that its on my iPhone and iPad home screens. Besides a dictionary, it also provides a very useful (in my opinion the must useful) parser tool. Besides the dictionary and parser tools, SPQR has a warmth of other Latin language and cultural resources, including many Latin language books by classical, medieval, and neo-Latin authors. I highly recommend this app...its well with the price and will become an invaluable tool for you as a Latin student!

Amazing wealth of useful tools

I am independently learning to read Latin (via Wheelock) and I use SPQR daily. The flashcard capabilities alone are worth twice the price. I have a set for each chapter of my textbook and they have helped more than anything else. They can also be set to self-generate at random from any of the literary works contained within the app (you specify how many cards you want to create and the app does the rest). This is really useful to prepare yourself once you get to the point where you want to try and work your way through some of the books on your own. I could go on about the flashcards, but there is so much more to this app. I bought it on a whim and it has become my most used app. If you are now learning or just brushing up on Latin, SPQR is truly an indispensable tool(s!). If you already know Latin, there are enough goodies here to keep you interested for years. Amazing app.

SPQR

Excellent app! I especially appreciate the dictionary. To have Lewis and Short at the tip of your fingers on your phone is just fantastic. This app us definitely worth the price.

Invaluable

By far the best app available for Latin students.
